Watchdog says can block Twitter fully till banned info deleted

MOSCOW, Mar 11 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has notified Twitter of its slowing in the country and the possibility of its full blocking if the microblogging social network does not erase the locally banned content, but there is still no response from the U.S. company, an authority official told PRIME late on Wednesday.

“The letter also contained the information that in case of continuation of ignoring by the Internet service of the law’s requirements to delete banned information, access to it can be restricted fully till the banned information is deleted,” the official said, adding that there is no goal to mute Twitter entirely, but it is possible.

The communications service slowed the speed of work of Twitter starting from Wednesday with the measure applying mainly to heavy content, like videos, while the texting capacity remained untouched.
